What are the types of Charging Stations?
LEVEL 1
Most EVs have a Level 1 charging unit that can be easily plugged into a standard 110-volt household outlet. This of charging is perfect for those who drive less than 50 miles per day and can add four to five miles of range per hour. Keep in mind that it can take up to 40 to 50 hours to fully charge an EV battery with a Level 1 charger.

Level 2
Professional Installation Required.

Level 2 chargers are a great option for charging your EV battery efficiently. They can charge up to 80% in four to 10 hours and require a 240-volt circuit. However, it's important to note that professional installation is required for Level 2 chargers. We have partnered with highly skilled and reliable electricians who are trained in safety and the latest technologies. Additionally, some upgrades may require additional modifications such as adaptors, wi-fi connectivity, weather protection, and energy needs.

Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC)
Commercial Application and Professional Installation Required.

DCFC equipment offers rapid charging along heavy-traffic corridors at installed stations. DCFC equipment can charge a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) to 80 percent in just 20 minutes to 1 hour. Most PHEVs (Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) currently on the market do not work with fast chargers.

Level 2 and DCFC equipment has been deployed at various public locations including, for example, at grocery stores, theaters, or coffee shops. When selecting a charger type, consider its voltages, resulting charging and vehicle dwell times, and estimated up-front and ongoing costs.

Rebates and Incentives
ComEd Residential EV Charger and Installation Rebate Program addresses the lack of accessible charging equipment as a barrier to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles. Rebates* will be offered to ComEd residential customers to lower the up-front costs associated with installing a Level 2 (L2) EV charging station, including the costs of the L2 EV charger and the installation work associated with the project.
